Hydrasun sign up to Aberdeen Gateway

April 2010

Developer, Stockland Muir, is delighted to welcome the latest tenant to their £100 million premium business park, Aberdeen Gateway. Hydrasun Ltd, the international leading provider of bespoke fluid transfer and process control solutions to the oil and gas, petrochemical, marine and defence industries, are consolidating their operations at a single site and will operate their new 21,440 sq ft office HQ and 71,500 sq ft production facility within the Gateway development.

Hydrasun’s new HQ represents a significant move from their previous premises and will allow the business to grow and expand. With the assistance of agents Ryden and Knight Frank, Stockland Muir and Hydrasun worked closely to create a bespoke development to meet the exact operational requirements of the new tenant. Muir Construction have now commenced work on the £12 million development and Hydrasun are targeting occupation by December 2010 at which time they will vacate their existing premises at King Street, Pitodrie Lane and Links Place in Aberdeen.

Hydrasun were recently joined on site by the representatives of Stockland Muir, the Aberdeen Lord Provost Peter Stephen and Charly Saulnier, president of Hydrasun's major supplier Parker Fluid Connectors to celebrate the first cut of turf on site.

Ken Lindsay, MD of Stockland UK and a director of Stockland Muir commented: "Stockland Muir is delighted to welcome our latest tenant, Hydrasun Ltd, to the Aberdeen Gateway Business Park. Our business park is ideally situated between the road axis serving the city, the harbour and the new Western Peripheral Route which makes it the perfect destination for business both large and small to obtain flexible, good quality industrial and office space. We have seen such and encouraging amount of interest from local and global businesses looking to locate or re-locate here and we are pleased that we now have three major tenants. We hope to continue this success by securing further investment in the near future."

Bob Drummond, chief executive officer at Hydrasun stated: "We are at a very exciting stage in the company's development and evolution. Our existing premises have served us very well but as a result of considerable growth in the past few years, the time has come to consolidate our operations and build a new company headquarters."

Upon completion of this development, there will be three significant tenants operating within the Aberdeen Gateway business park, Hydrasun Ltd, NOV Reed Hycalog who recently occupied their 40,970 sq ft office and warehouse facility and the Driving Standards Agency.

In total Aberdeen Gateway provides in excess of 40 acres of prime development land and detailed negotiations are ongoing with several other occupiers. Developer Stockland Muir believes further developments will follow throughout 2010 and Aberdeen Gateway is well placed to capitalise upon returning confidence in the industrial and office markets.
